The Community is committed to promote and consolidate the improvement in roads and road infrastructure in the region (19/06/2014)

The Minister of Development, Public Works and Planning, Manuel Campos, decided today to promote and strengthen the development of actions to improve roads and any road infrastructure associated with them in the region.

Campos met with the mayor of Yecla, Marcos Ortuño, to analyze the needs of the municipality, especially in the field of roads, in order to take them into account in the forecast and expenditure reserve and included in the annual investment programming, projects and road projects next year.

In this sense, the possibility of promoting the improvement works in the RM-404 road, which has a total length of 25 miles and binds with Fuente Álamo Yecla analyzed.

The head of the Ministry of Public Works explained that this action is planned in four sections and ran the first one, which included seven kilometers and an investment of 1.6 million euros.

"The other three sections are technically approved and the project would involve an investment of seven million euros," said the counselor.

The state of the other roads that run through the area, including the A-18 RM (Yecla-Monte Alegre), RM 426 (Yecla-Almansa), RM A-14 (Yecla-Caudete), RM-425 (also studied Yecla-Villena) and RM-424 (Crossing Yecla).

Campos said the regional government is undertaking a series of actions aimed at the conservation of Road Network in the Region of Murcia, supporting measures to improve road safety.

Boost works on the A-33

The Minister also expressed the commitment of the regional government to perform all the necessary arrangements with the Ministry of Public Works to expedite the paperwork maximum award of works of the A-33, which connects the towns of Yecla and Jumilla.

Campos said that, today, are in the process of awarding the three sections in which is divided the works of Yecla, Jumilla route, covering more than 23 kilometers in length and have a budget of almost 97 million bid for euros.

He noted that this stretch of highway will be an alternative to the old N-344, along which 5,500 vehicles daily, and will get the most traffic long and halfway, allowing free passage of vehicles on the Crossings Industrial Estate Romerales in Jumilla, La Fuente del Pino and AlquerÃa.

The Minister said that the end of all sections of the highway, the A-33 "will be an attractive alternative for travel between Murcia and Valencia, on the inside."
