A project to improve municipal energy consumption and reduce the economic cost.

Investment financed by aid from European funds.

"Improving public energy consumption means greater protection and conservation of our environment and also results in a major cost savings" emphasizes the mayor of Yecla

The City of Yecla from the Department of Infrastructure and Public Works, has launched a project to improve public lighting in our town.

"The improvement of this service is focused with two main objectives: increased energy efficiency and the consequence of this has been an optimization of municipal economic resources" includes the mayor of Yecla.

The Councillor for Infrastructure and Public Works, Ascensio Juan, stresses that "we used for this improvement, first low cost measures and secondly an aid package from European funds."

In this first package, called low cost, actions were carried out as set photoelectric cells and flow regulators, measures representing an energy saving of 36.5% in 2014 compared to 2010, which resulted in a saving of 227,849 euros a year.

Second are running a series of investments in public lighting with two main courses of action:

Installing LED lighting in different areas like Sol neighborhood, neighborhood of La Alameda and Plaza José A. Martínez, with an investment of 95,512.50 euros, from 50% of European funds, and that will mean annual savings to the municipal coffers 23,800 Euros.

Modernization and replacement of devices in industrial estates, with an investment of € 15,000 which will bring savings of € 21,600 a year.

Finally the implementation of all these measures have led to the renegotiation of municipal energy contracts that result in annual savings of 37,000 euros in the concept of contracted power.

Marcos Ortuño emphasizes that the importance of "improving public energy consumption means greater protection and conservation of our environment and also results in a major cost savings in municipal coffers."
