The PSOE proposes a motion in plenary tonight to promote a series of measures to help a group such as celiac has to face a significant cost in products from their diet as it is a disease without drug treatment
The Municipal Socialist Group has tonight to Parliament a motion to reopen discussions on the situation of people affected by celiac disease.
A topic that was discussed a few years ago on a proposal also put forward by the Socialists but whose commitments of the agreement have not been fully met.
The PSOE remember that celiac disease is a complex disease state, due to an intolerance to gluten (gliadin specifically to) contained in certain cereals: wheat, barley, rye and oats.
The disease begins in childhood and is maintained even in adulthood, being permanent, without drug treatment and, therefore, leads to maintain a gluten-free diet for life.
Something which is a high price to buy staples, existing studies which assume this diet is about 1600 euros of additional cost in feeding people affected.
Although most of the powers in this sense has the autonomous communities and regional governments are already directly supporting celiac as is the case of Valencia, Navarra and the Balearic Islands, the Municipal Socialist Group has full one City Council motion to lead this cause in several directions.
Socialists call for action for the number of people affected in the city, create associations, to promote an agreement with Ministry of Health for financial assistance to enable them to withstand the additional costs of a basic daily diet, especially for families with lower purchasing power.
Finally, from the PSOE they posed ACMU coordination with the association of celiac regional campaigns to develop knowledge of the disease and gain an agreement with the hoteliers of our city in his letters to specify which products may affect celiac.
