The Ministry of Agriculture and Water and the city of Yecla allocated 800,000 euros to the conditioning of 11.6 kilometers of rural roads that run through this township, after the agreement signed today by the head of the Ministry, Antonio Cerdá, and Mayor Yecla, Juan Miguel Benedito.
Murcia counselor explained that the upgrading of these routes will offer "better service for agricultural vehicle traffic and access to farms and rural areas located in the vicinity."
Murcia Councilor said "the vast network of rural roads that have the Region, contributing, he said, to" encourage the conservation of the environment and rural heritage and secure its people. "
The paths defined in the project involved three and a half to five feet wide, serving at various sites in the county, and lie in rainfed and irrigated lands located with almond, olive trees and vineyards.
In particular, the works will benefit Bronquina roads, Umbria and Quitapellejos Factor, with a length of 5.3, 2.9 and 3.4 km respectively, which serve many farms in the area.
The financial contribution to fund the refurbishment works will be cited by 50 percent by both parties signing and annuities funded in 2008 and 2009.
The Department has acted in the improvement and upgrading of rural roads serving farms through Local Plans.
So, this year will reach 1,815 kilometers of rural roads, with a budget of 7.5 million euros.
In the town of Yecla has invested 1.6 million euros since 2000 to improve and the arrangement of 14 rural roads already completed that course over 55 kilometers long.
