The Minister of the Presidency, Juan Antonio De Heras, the Minister of Works, Housing and Transport, José Ballesta, and the mayor of Yecla, Juan Miguel Benedito, placed this morning the first stone for the rehabilitation of the Primitive Casino Yecla a building dating from the nineteenth century and is declared of Cultural Interest.
To implement the project, whose budget amounts to 2.9 billion euros, the ministries of the Presidency and Public Works has invested one million euros respectively, while the Consistory yeclano has financed the remaining amount of remodeling.
The works, with a lead time of 26 months, will focus on the recovery of ornamental traits contained in the original plans of the building.
In this regard, the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Transport, José Ballesta, said that "with this performance, the new yeclanos can enjoy the architectural value of this landmark building in the center of town, recovering a key part its cultural and historical heritage. "
For his part, Minister of Presidency expressed the importance for the municipality will "restore the beauty of this typical building for yeclana culture and society, and that will endure over time as a center for musical education."
He also stressed that "these 2 billion that the Autonomous Region will invest for the reconstruction of this building is further evidence of the closeness and importance of Local Authorities for the regional government."
From 1888 to 2008
The Casino Primitivo de Yecla in 1888, when it was designed by the architect Justo Millán, architect of the first two rehabilitations of Murcia Romea Theatre.
In the first third of the twentieth century became one of the centers and cultural highlights of the municipality.
It was closed in the early years of democracy because it had been ruined.
