The Furniture Technology Center and Wood (CETEM), located in Yecla and belonging to the Network of Technological Centres in the Region of Murcia, promoted by the Ministry of Universities, Business and Research, through the Institute of Development, will participate the most important international exhibition on Nanotechnology, held in Tokyo from 18 to 20 February, at the hands of the Spanish Federation of Technological Centres (FEDIT), along with eight other centers of the country in a common stand with the order to show the latest advances in the application of nanotechnology coatings in the furniture industry.
Nanotechnology is a field of applied science devoted to the control and manipulation of matter at the level of atoms and molecules, where you can get new alternative to existing materials or with better properties, which provide added value to end products any industrial sector.
This is a rising star who has suffered an unprecedented boom in the scientific world and attracts researchers and business activity.
CETEM NanoTech'09 goes to the purpose of contact with entities and organizations that jointly develop R & D + i focused on nanotechnology, always with the ultimate aim of offering its partners the results of these projects.
For two years, CETEM company works closely with the NTC-Spain in this field, studying the feasibility of incorporating nano-coating to materials commonly used in the furniture sector.
During this time, from the laboratory CETEM been tested on various materials (wood, textiles, metals, foams, etc..), Transferring all the results to its partners.
The CETEM laboratory staff works to ensure the application of nanotechnology coatings that could contribute to modern furniture flame retardant properties, stain, bacterial, etc..
In short, it is to get products with better properties, without modifying current production processes of the furniture industry and wood, thus avoiding the need for large investments in new equipment.
In this Technology Centre are confident that the incorporation of nanotechnology-based coatings for furniture, will lead to the production of products with high added value.
And they in turn will directly contribute to raising the competitiveness of companies in the market today.
