The president of the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS), José Salvador Fuentes Zorita, today presented the president of the Community of Irrigators of Mollidar Hoya-The Portichuelo, Francisco Bernal, granting the use of treated water from WWTP Yecla , whose annual volume is 1,200,000 granted cubic meters (m3), respecting the priority of other existing grant for 800,000 m3 Community Irrigation Santiago Pozo.
This award, which is term of 75 years, is part of the proceedings of the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, in which the reuse of treated wastewater and reclaimed, is a cornerstone in the fight against drought and the optimal use of available water resources.
Thus, the irrigators will have Yecla 1,200,000 m3 annually to irrigate their irrigable area (2,703 hectares) for vineyards, almond trees and cereals, so that the allocation will be 2,047 m3/hectárea/año water waste.
The approved maximum flow is 80 liters per second.
This award includes the presentation by the irrigators, a technical project for the use of this flow, with the characteristics of the junction with the sewage treatment plant, the pumping, piping and reservoir regulation.
