As we informed the director of the excavation works for this year and particularly in the case of the site of The Torrejones have been raised with the intention to excavate the remains of whole Almohad fortress (XII / XIII) found last winter as a result of the work being done in the area to expand the irrigation network.
A part of this important building was unearthed in archaeological excavations, which urgently carried out between December and January.
Could be seen, therefore, the existence of a tower farm, located in part on the ancient vintage tardoromana agricultural facilities, ie, IV and V century AD, very in tune with what is to happen in the Sarq territory al-Andalus, which shows a highly developed phenomenon defense of the territory from the second half of the twelfth century, contemplating it as an element to contain the advance of Christian kingdoms in the north (Castile and Aragon) .
The fortifications of the farmhouse of Los Torrejones be part of the program of Islamization of our current municipal territory, which, remember, are considerably enlarged the defenses of the fortress of Cerro del Castillo and emerge a new village or madina new ground, away from their defenses on the face of the hill.
In parallel with the field work, the campers will hold a workshop for the restoration of archaeological materials, in this case ceramic restorer who will give Penelope Santa Puche.
