The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, today inaugurated the new headquarters of the local police in Yecla, which will enhance public safety in the town and has involved a total investment of 1.6 billion euros, of which 600,000 have been provided by the Autonomous Community.
Valcárcel, accompanied by the Minister of Presidency and Public Administration, María Pedro Reverte, and the mayor of Yecla, Juan Miguel Benedito, toured the new facilities that will enable municipal officials to better serve the citizens of the town and exercise their functions With increased resources.
The building, located on the Rue de la Fuente, with a floor space of 1,617 square meters on two floors, built on city-owned plot of 4,413 meters square.
On the ground floor several rooms are distributed for internal use by the police as offices, the Central Coordination Centre Municipal Emergency Operations and other areas for public attention.
Also on this floor are located the offices of information and reports as well as a garage for 20 vehicles.
On the first floor are located, among other agencies, a room shooting, gunsmith, black holes, the locker room and gym.
Nearly a hundred local police officers in Yecla
In this new headquarters will provide effective services that make up the 88 staff currently yeclana Local Police, comprising a sub-inspector, an officer, three sergeants and six strands, which soon will add a new officer and one sergeant, and by 77 agents, of which 20 are assigned to the Special Units of Public Safety, launched under the Regional Plan.

The new headquarters of local police and police manning represent, according to the president, "an example of commitment to improving public safety in all municipalities in the region and cooperation between local and regional authorities in this area ".
The Chief Executive said the Murcia Regional Public Safety Plan also contemplates the incorporation of 628 officers to police templates for all areas of the region and the transfer of nearly a hundred vehicles to municipalities, improving police infrastructure and construction, as is the case of Yecla, new barracks, commensurate with the size and services provided by the local police body.
300 million to improve public safety in the Region
Valcárcel said the Regional Plan of Public Safety, with a total investment exceeding 300 million euros, "has allowed, through the combined efforts of communities and municipalities, the local police staff in the region has increased in just three years above 50 percent, from 1,850 agents in 2006 to 2,824 today. "
This increase in staff has been matched by other contributions from the regional government on infrastructure and law enforcement, which now exceed eleven million euros for the renovation and new construction of local police headquarters, which includes another ten million improved technical means, through the acquisition of new vehicles, motorcycles and other elements for the development of police work with the best resources and in the best conditions possible.
