The Governing Council has approved a grant of 514,000 euros for the museum renovation and the adequacy of municipal archaeological museum spaces 'Cayetano Mergelina' of Yecla.
The new museology providing a platform for better understanding of the historical heritage of the locality, especially as significant reservoir with Monte Arabi (declared Patrimony of Humanity), the Roman town of Los Torrejones or Cerro del Castillo.
The museum, established in 1983, brings together a collection of archaeological material from some of the most relevant sites regionally and nationally, most notably the Iberian sculpture collection of Cerro de los Santos.
The works have a total budget of 600,000 euros, of which the Autonomous Community, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, provides 514,000 euros and the remaining 86,000 the City of Yecla.
