D.
José Antonio Hernández Muñoz.
PRESIDENT.
Association Stewards "The Immaculate Conception."
Dear José Antonio:
Surely you've heard these last days, with surprise, perhaps in disgust and certainly with discomfort, the controversy has arisen concerning the acquisition by the City of a sculpture intended to honor the "tiraores" of our celebrations of the Virgin.
Of course we are fully convinced that you know to separate political criticism, in this case more than legitimate, to a purchase or acquisition by the government team, which we described as immoral, with our collaborative approach, support and respect not only presides the Association but to the hundreds of squares and tiraores who participate in our Festival of the Virgin.
The PSOE de Yecla, for years both in government and in the municipal opposition, has expressed the utmost support and respect for our Patron and I remind you, by way of example, that during the Mayor's Cristina Soriano Stewards Association was distinguished for his work with the Gold Medal of the City of Yecla, the highest honor our City officer, a fact that most yeclanos we are proud, and I reaffirm that has been and will continue to be, in fairness between institutions, if in the future I represent the party managed to govern our city.
We also want reiterarte since the PSOE have fled Yecla always interested in any use of popular feeling of our City on behalf of its Patron, all the time separating the policy positions of the entrenched traditions of yeclanos.
José Antonio, to share with us that in a democratic system, the only legitimate political criticism is desirable.
The fact that in a moment of economic crisis with hundreds of families in Yecla in a difficult situation, with thousands of workers in the unemployment lists, with dozens of companies that have closed or have a hard time making ends meet and on especially with the many social needs that still has our people, and are dependent on the municipal budget, it seems not only a disregard and contempt for these people, but also an insult and immoral that the City, spend now, at this time almost 22 million pesetas in a sculpture, especially when citizens are demanding that all public administrations, whatever the political color they are, the most rigorous in using public resources more efficiently.
This is not criticism for criticism.
Our criticism is not against the Fiestas de la Virgen or against the musketeers.
We can assure you that our council in our party we are hearing from many people who, whether or not supporters, they show common sense from a mixture of astonishment and indignation on the purchase of the sculpture.
Our position is not contrary to honor the parties or their protagonists "tiraores, but we believe that a time like the present, in a situation of difficulties of all kinds, the best tribute to the holidays, and the patron, not to buy sculptures expensive and unnecessary, but be against an expenditure that goes against the principles of solidarity, support the needy and humility, shared by all men of goodwill regardless of their religious faith.
Our political commitment and personal conscience requires us to position ourselves against inappropriate spending so improper and, consequently, against any show of exhibition of this monumental blunder, for it to transmit copies of this letter to all presidents of the teams and the media , for the avoidance of any doubt where we stand in this regard.
As always, you can count on the Socialist Aldermen to what is necessary to give our citizens the best Festivities they deserve.
A big hug
